DG834Gv3/4.01.27 - SMTP sending email / IM Ports (Click here for support Page)

  • There is a HIGHLY annoying bug in the 4.01.27 version of the DG834Gv3 firmware.

    When setting the new 'Instant Messaging (IM) Ports' under 'Firewall Rules' option to the 'Close IM Ports' option, you are likely to lose the possibility to send email through a SMTP server.

    The symptoms are a SMTP server that disconnects itself when sending large(-ish) files.

    Opening the IM ports fixes the problem.

DG834GT - firmware Version 1.02.14 problem with IM (Click here for support Page)

  • Symptoms:
    • Firmware version 1.02.14 will break the usage of IM- MSN (instant message)
    • Checking for the status of the service, port 1863 was closed.
    • Adding a specific rule to allow the port for outgoing connection do not work
  • Solutions:
    • Revert to firmware version 1.02.09

DG834GV4 - Use unit modem mode while using 802.1x Authentication (Click here for support Page)

DG834GBv3 - SMTP time out (Click here for support Page)

  • Symptoms:
    • Timeouts during SMTP connections
    • Firmware Version 4.01.27
  • Solutions:
    • Solved by downgrading firmware
    • Firmware Verson 4.01.06
  • The DG834GBv4 with firmware V5.01.01 is no longer affected by the SMTP timeout problem.
